It’s 10 years now since Iconic Houses was launched and much has been achieved in that time!Above all perhaps, the house museum membership has doubled to almost two hundred museums worldwide, and the foundation moved towards a much broader mission.

Initially conceived to inform architecture and design aficionados how to visit the modern house museums, for which it continues to do, the network has also branched out into defending icons at risk, creating a valuable tool kit for owners of a modern house, raising awareness, and advocating for younger heritage. The platform also focuses on house museum management and cooperation between professionals who run these museums.

Natascha Drabbe, Founder and Executive Director of Iconic Houses, is based in the Netherlands. She will provide an overview of the network's activities using examples of world-famous house museums that are affiliated with the network as well as many hidden gems. From holiday/weekend homes of individuals who could commission an architect, to social housing apartments that, like true time capsules, can be visited as a museum apartment.

The audience will also get a sneak preview of an exciting new event: IH City Icons, making its debut with Amsterdam: Housing Highlights! Scheduled for May 24–26, 2024, a unique opportunity to explore Amsterdam’s unique residential architecture – from its Golden Age roots in the 17th century, to the modernist social housing heritage, to its present-day iconic contemporary residential projects. Just announced, Chicago will host the 8th International IH Conference May 17–24, 2025 with Pre- and Post-Conference field trips to Taliesin (WI) and Fallingwater.
