King Gillette Estate Tour
$50 (30 min)
The historic King Gillette Estate is a 4,300-square-foot residence designed in 1923 in the Spanish Revival style. Located in the exclusive Mesa neighborhood, the spectacular property has recently undergone a thorough renovation by nationally famous interior designer Bill Stewart of Stewart|Mohr Designs, based in Atlanta. In his over 30 years of professional work, including projects throughout the U.S. Southeast, California, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts, Stewart has sensitively transformed the insides and outsides of many residences of varying historic vernaculars, including Spanish Revival, Streamline Moderne, Midcentury Modern, and even Victorian. Stewart is known locally for his stunning renovation of the Haymond Residence (1964, Frey & Chambers) which was designated a Class 1 Historic Site by the city of Palm Springs in 2017. Don’t miss this special architectural treat as Stewarts’ interior designs are always rife with rare furniture and accessories cleverly and seamlessly paired with their historic environments.
The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to educate and promote public awareness of the importance of preserving the historical resources and architecture of the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley area.” PSPF offers free membership as a public benefit.
