Spend an afternoon with the editors at Atomic Ranch and get an up-close-and-personal tour of a recently renovated Modernism Week Featured Home: Hi-Sun. This 1963 model home for Las Palmas Summit Estates was designed by Charles Du Bois, an architect who is increasingly recognized for his contributions to desert modernism. Du Bois designed the iconic ‘Alohauses’ in Vista Las Palmas, as well as the condominiums in Canyon Estates.

Alexander Construction Company built the house, along with about 2,500 modernist homes in Palm Springs. Early Alexander ads read “Designed by Architects, Built by Master Builders for Permanent Value.” More than 50 years later, their work lives up to this vision.

This home is now the personal residence of Kevin Kemper and Howard Hawkes of H3K Home + Design, and they are welcoming midcentury modernism enthusiasts into their home for a talk and tour. Over cocktails and snacks, they’ll tell you how they’ve renovated their home to preserve its historical integrity, but also adapt it for 21st century living. Before and after their informal presentation, you’ll get to tour the home and visit with Kevin, Howard, and the Atomic Ranch team.
