Historic Twin Palms Neighborhood: Welcome to where it all began!
n 1956, developers George and Robert Alexander started to build the original 90 homes that became Twin Palms—the first completed Modernist tract in the desert. Their butterfly roofs, sun flaps, shadow blocks, atriums, clerestory windows, and other William Krisel-designed elements have become icons of the era. A landscape designer, engineer, artist and architect, no detail escaped Mr. Krisel. He selected paint colors, placed pools and palm trees, and designed landscaping, built-in furniture, light fixtures, and cupboard-door pulls
Greeted by volunteers and homeowners, each guest will:
• Check in for your tour at the famous Ocotillo Lodge, where you will be able to see the clubhouse and their wonderful champagne-cork shaped pool. You will then see two of the Ocotillo units and 3 of the Krisel/Alexander homes that feature butterfly, high-gabled, or rare low-gabled roofs. Everything is within easy walking distance.
• While at the Ocotillo, you can enjoy the multimedia presentation on William Krisel and the exhibit of Twin Palms memorabilia honoring his legacy.
• Receive a complimentary Twin Palms tote bag containing a specially commissioned collectible exclusive to this tour.
Tour proceeds support activities of the Twin Palms Neighborhood Organization. This includes improvement initiatives like our Gateway Monument project and neighborhood grants made to worthy organizations that support Palm Springs. Twin Palms welcomes you to the neighborhood where it all began.

This event is for ages 12 and older.
No Parking in the Ocotillo Lodge parking lot.
Ample street parking.
Photography at the discretion of the homeowner.
Private homes are not wheelchair accessible.
Please no pets, food or smoking allowed in homes.
Restrooms in homes are not available.
Please arrive at the time on your ticket.
