Details
This very special tour features architectural details sure to entertain the discriminating tour goer. The Alexander Construction Company’s preferred architects, Palmer & Krisel, are well known for a variety of expressive rooflines including the “Butterfly,” “Long Gable,” and “Sun Flap,” each with its own distinctive character. In 1960, the architects employed their creativity on this home with a “Folded Plate” roofline.

A wall of dramatic concrete screen block beckons the tour goer to both an architectural delight and inspiring preservation story: the home (and character-defining roofline) was unsympathetically renovated in the 1990s obscuring the folded plate feature on both the exterior and interior.  Fortunately, the current owners engaged talented local architect Stan Boles, FAIA, to renovate the home, restoring it to its previous glory.

The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to educate and promote public awareness of the importance of preserving the historical resources and architecture of the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley area.” PSPF offers free membership as a public benefit. To learn more about the work of the foundation see pspreservationfoundation.com.
