This special home tour in Rancho Mirage, just outside of Palm Springs, will be a favorite with art and interior design lovers. The home is best described as interior architecture designed by Steve Chase in the 1980s, a period well known as the “opulent 80s.” (The 80s are the new 50s.) Though the home has been lightly remodeled over time, much of the original period design by Chase has been protected and respected by the homeowners. Docents will help guide your guest experience while touring the home and garden, which includes signature style elements by Chase -- from built-in custom cabinetry to upholstered walls.
Steve Chase was a pioneering interior designer whose innovative designs have left an indelible mark on Palm Springs. Chase's early experience in the 1960s at Arthur Elrod & Associates allowed him to develop his design skills and vision. This collaboration with Elrod played a pivotal role in shaping Chase's distinctive design style, which later became influential in the region's interior design landscape.
Chase was an art collector himself and designed “art galleries” for his clients. The Moon/Hammack international art collection is showcased in an exhibition space that runs the length of the house. As you walk through the home, you will see original Steve Chase design elements in every room. There will also be a photo slideshow of the original furniture that was designed by Steve Chase for the home.
