Racquet Club Estates Midcentury Home Tour

One of the largest and most iconic neighborhoods in Palm Springs, Racquet Club Estates is a marvel of midcentury design. More than 500 homes come together to create an oasis of architectural optimism that introduced the post-war generation to indoor-outdoor living in Southern California.
The Alexander Construction Company hired architects like William Krisel and Donald Wexler to design innovative homes that welcomed the desert sun and optimized shade. This was affordable luxury for middle class consumers. The small interior footprints are complemented by outdoor living spaces with swimming pools and mountain views. While many of the homes have been retrofitted for year-round living, the neighborhood’s midcentury aesthetic remains intact: butterfly roofs, paper-thin overhangs and vibrant pops of color on doors, mailboxes and carports. Breezeblock abounds.
On this neighborhood tour you can see the interiors of our tour homes. Stop by the front of the Wexler designed Steel Development House No. 2, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was the first midcentury structure in Palm Springs to be so designated.
Vintage cars will be displayed at each home and throughout the neighborhood. Guests can also enjoy a pre-tour coffee and snack at our check-in.
Proceeds from this tour will fund projects benefiting the neighborhood and the Palm Springs community at large.

There are six (6) homes on this tour.
Please arrive 15 minutes before tour time to check in.
Check-in opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 11:00 a.m.
This tour is for ages 12 and older.
There is ample street parking available.
Photography is at the discretion of the homeowners.
There are some exterior and/or interior steps.
Please no food, drinks, pets or smoking allowed in the homes.
Bathrooms in homes are not available.
