Details
Imagined by architectural designer William Charles Tanner in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, “Morada La Estrella” was built in 1932 for businessman John Corson Snyder and his wife Estella. Upon entering the home’s grand hall, with its carved wood-trusses and exposed beam cathedral-ceiling, visitors are treated to many artful wood and metal details which are carried through the lavish residence.
Aside from the tennis court, the extensive grounds feature a large swimming pool, spa, and adjacent pergola. Outside views of the home, also showcase the terracotta tiled roof and historic details around windows and eaves. Original roof tiles still bear the maker’s name: the famous Gladding McBean company of Los Angeles.
The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to educate and promote public awareness of the importance of preserving the historical resources and architecture of the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley area.” PSPF offers free membership as a public benefit.
