Jazz Cellist Kye Marshall Returns to Modernism Week
$125 (3 hrs)
After 5 years performing for sold out Modernism Week audiences, acclaimed Canadian jazz cellist Kye Marshall returns to Modernism Week 2024 to perform an afternoon of jazz at a wonderful midcentury inspired home and private museum.
Ms. Marshall’s works across nearly every genre have been played by many orchestras, including a world premier by I Solisti Veneti, one of the foremost chamber orchestras in the world. In addition, her first opera, Pomegranate, premiered at the Canadian Opera in June to sold out crowds and rave reviews. But relax, today’s concert will be purely jazz, ranging from the Great American Songbook to several of her own delightful compositions. Ms. Marshall will be accompanied by Peter Curtis on acoustic guitar.
This year’s performance will take place at a private home with a museum dedicated to the artwork of the owner, whose works are in private collections around the world. The museum will be open on the day of the concert and tours will be guided by the artist/owner. This promises to be one of the more unique and fun experiences of Modernism Week.
The 2 PM concert will be followed by a reception with hosted wine, bubbly, and hors d’oeuvres, and will include a meet and greet with the artists. The reception will end about 5 PM to segue right into your dinner plans.
Catering by Lynn Hammond Catering.
This year’s concert will benefit The L Fund.
