What are the secrets of designing great desert gardens?

Landscape architect, Lisa Gimmy, will explore the defining characteristics of six desert gardens, what makes them memorable, and how their design strategies can be applied to a variety of sites, from large estates to intimate gardens. Desert gardens present special opportunities and constraints that require a deft understanding of the climate, the terrain, and proximity to natural areas. Her experience in designing and building gardens in the desert pays particular attention to view opportunities, the introduction of water features, as well as plant selection and maintenance.

Lisa is the founder of Lisa Gimmy Landscape Architecture and has more than 30 years of experience designing landscapes throughout California. Her work is featured in books and publications, such as Dry Gardens: High Style for Low Water Gardens and Mediterranean Modern, as well as The New York Times. These publications focus on the design of drought-tolerant gardens. She is the recipient of awards from the California Preservation Foundation, the Southern California Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and others.
