Country Club Estates of Palm Springs Modernism Home Tour

Consider the “Q.” As in Quintessential. Quality. And most relevantly, as in A. Quincy Jones, the seminal midcentury architect well-known for designing Sunnylands, the storied Annenberg Estate in Rancho Mirage. He is also the architect of the unique 30-unit enclave known as Country Club Estates of Palm Springs. It is the only multi-residential development designed fully by Jones, conferring on it a distinction of rare merit.

Each home in this unique community pays tribute to the design features for which A. Quincy Jones is known: a usable interior atrium, high ceilings and walls of glass that invite the outside in. For the postwar moderate-income family, his work bridged the gap between custom-built and developer-built homes. All Country Club Estates gracious, spacious rooms feature his widespread use of stacked, square masonry blocks.

Country Club Estates remains true to Jones' vision of logically designed structures integrated into the landscape and surrounded by greenbelts. The complex is situated on several acres that allow for shaded walkways, expanses of greenery and an unobstructed views of the beloved San Jacinto Mountains.

In contrast to Sunnylands, a vast estate planned as a meeting place for dignitaries, Country Club Estates (built the year before Sunnylands in 1965) was designed for everyday living for more moderate-income families–ensuring that its residents would also enjoy living beautifully. It is our pleasure to welcome you to six of the homes in the A. Quincy Jones’ multi-residential masterwork, Country Club Estates of Palm Springs.
