Details
Hugh Kaptur is the last remaining architect of the legendary school of Palm Springs Modern architects. Starting in the 1950s Kaptur’s work can be seen throughout the Coachella Valley playing a significant role in the development of Palms Springs. Gems like the Impala Lodge (Triangle Inn), Tahquitz Plaza, and two Southridge homes well known for their owners, actors William Holden and Steve McQueen, are just a small sample of his extraordinary talent.

James Harlan, architect, and author of The Alexanders: A Desert Legacy will talk about the developers, George and Robert Alexander who were vital contributors to the growth of Palm Springs in the 50s and 60s with their iconic neighborhoods, such as Twin Palms Estates.

Current Palm Springs Preservation Foundation Vice President, Steven Keylon, is a landscape and architectural historian, author of The Design of Herbert W. Burns and The Modern Architecture of Hugh Michael Kaptur. Keylon will give insight into the unique contributions Burns and Kaptur gave to the desert.
