Ukulele Love – Royal Hawaiian Estates Neighborhood Home Tour
$100 (3 hrs) — 8 homes on this tour
The historic Royal Hawaiian Estates invites you to visit their updated community as we continue our ongoing efforts to restore this amazing property to its original 1961 concept! With recent structural beam restoration and new exterior paint in the original color scheme, this iconic Donald Wexler/Richard Harrison designed desert-tropical community is ready to say “Aloha!”
With 40 units in 12 buildings originally built for the local Jewish community, the Royal Hawaiian Estates is Palm Springs’ first historic residential district as honored by the Palm Springs City Council in 2010. Known for its hip, tiki-inspired Polynesian architecture, we invite you to a relaxing self-guided tour of this community, featuring iconic “tiki apexes”, “flying sevens”, and roofline “teeth” and “ladder extensions”. During your 3-hour tour of at least eight featured homes, take time to relax on the pool deck and enjoy music provided by the Desert Ukulele Marching Band! As you depart, stop by the check-in desk to receive a special remembrance gift created by RHE community resident and local artist "SHAG"!
Following the morning and early afternoon neighborhood home tours, you’re invited to enjoy a separate ticketed, late afternoon cocktail party featuring tiki-inspired cocktails, light snacks, and live Hawaiian entertainment!
Event proceeds will support ongoing restoration and modernization of the Royal Hawaiian Estates community.
