Grace Farms - Reimagining Architecture for Change

New Canaan, Connecticut, world renowned for its modernist architecture, is the home of Grace Farms.  Realized by Sharon Prince as a new kind of publicly available space, it is emblematic of how architecture can be a catalyst for good.  She will talk about her journey creating Grace Farms Foundation, visualizing Grace Farms as a place to reflect their forward thinking, mission-driven values, and how architecture can inspire change. 

Comprised of 80 acres of natural landscape, the centerpiece of Grace Farms is the internationally acclaimed River building, designed by the Pritzker-prize winning firm SANAA, and ever since completed in 2015, has become a transcendent pilgrimage site for architects.  The curvilinear building seamlessly rests in the landscape and was designed with the idea that space communicates and can inspire people to collaborate for good.  Its five multi-purpose, enclosed glass volumes create stunning 360-degree views, providing diverse opportunities for visitors to experience the spaces, as well as being the venues all year long for public programs supporting the mission of Grace Farms.

Sharon Prince is the CEO and Founder of Grace Farms Foundation.  Its interdisciplinary humanitarian mission is to pursue peace through nature, arts, justice, faith and community. She commissioned SANAA to design the River building as the center for her foundation, garnering awards for architecture, sustainability, and social good. 

In 2020, Prince launched Design for Freedom, with more than 60 leaders to create a radical paradigm shift to remove slavery from the built environment, and Grace Farms Food, a public benefit llc, with a mission to demonstrate and educate about ethical and sustainable supply chains.

Ample free public parking is available in the multi-level public garage across from the Palm Springs Art Museum.
Handicap parking is available. This event is wheelchair accessible.
