Opening Reception with Gary Wexler and the deRoy Gruber Foundation
Free, no ticket required (3 hrs)
Experience the modernist screenprints and sculptures of artist Aaronel deRoy Gruber (1918-2011) in a special exhibition presented by the deRoy Gruber Foundation in collaboration with artist Gary Wexler in his Palm Springs studio.
Working in pure Day-Glo pigments and vibrant Plexiglas during the 1960s-1970s, deRoy Gruber presented her abstract works in shows and projects internationally, including in Palm Springs, renowned for her material experimentation and bold compositions.
During Modernism Week 2023 the artist's Pittsburgh-based Foundation offers the unique opportunity to view select pieces from their collection, installed in the private serigraph studio of Gary Wexler, who shares a dynamic visual language with Aaronel.

An opening reception and gallery hours will follow a scheduled talk on the artist at CAMP on February 18th, presented by the Foundation's Executive Director and curator. These events continue a celebration of deRoy Gruber's West Coast connection - her work was exhibited in Palm Springs in 1972 at Nelda Linsk's Galerie du Jonelle in collaboration with renowned designer Arthur Elrod, and more recently during Modernism Week 2022 at Trina Turk's flagship boutique.
