Join USModernist for a fabulous evening fundraiser under the stars at the famed Kirk and Anne Douglas House designed by architect Donald Wexler. Turn back time for a night of celebration and relaxation at one of the most famous – and beautiful – midcentury homes in Palm Springs! Under the palms, we will enjoy wonderful architecture and design, sparkling conversation, and delicious drinks and appetizers – as a benefit for nonprofit USModernist.org, documenting hundreds of midcentury Modernist houses in Palm Springs and thousands more across the country. You’ll tour the iconic property and meet architecture fans and preservationists who love what you love. There is an open living/dining room, fireplace, and a wet bar; a newly renovated kitchen, and five bedrooms - plus a tennis court and pavilion built in 1976 and lined with Douglas movie posters. The property backs up to Leonardo DiCaprio's house, which used to be owned by Dinah Shore.
USModernist is the largest non-profit open digital archive for midcentury Modernist houses in America. With documentation on 8,000 amazing houses, including nearly every Neutra, Wright (Sr. and Jr.), Lautner, Schindler, Wexler, Cody, Clark, Frey, Kaptur, Chambers, and Williams (E. Stewart and Paul), USModernist produces the wildly popular USModernist Radio podcast, interviewing Modernist architects, fans, owners, authors, and influencers from across the world – including dozens of keynote speakers from Modernism Week.
