An Afternoon of Jazz at a Spectacular Midcentury Retreat
$125 (3 hrs)
After several years performing for sold out Modernism Week audiences, acclaimed Canadian jazz cellist Kye Marshall returns to Modernism Week 2023 to perform an afternoon of jazz at a spectacular midcentury retreat.
This afternoon's concert will feature Ms. Marshall playing selections ranging from the Great American Songbook to several of her own delightful compositions. Ms. Marshall will be accompanied by Peter Curtis on acoustic guitar.
This year’s performance will take place at a private retreat once owned by Sinatra pal, jazz-pop singer Keely Smith. The home was completely renovated by Christopher Kennedy and Art House in 2015, and features an Italian modern kitchen from Aran Cucine, with Cosentino counters, and many other design elements. The home is also a model of sustainability with extensive solar panels, desert landscaping, LED lighting, ceiling fans and a fruit, vegetable, and herb garden.
The concert will be followed by a reception with hosted wine, champagne and hors d’oeuvres, and will include a meet and greet with the artists. The reception will end about 6 p.m. to segue right into your dinner plans.
Catering by Lynn Hammond Catering.
This year’s concert will benefit Havurah of the Desert.
