Canyon Estates Home Tour
$85 (2 hrs) — 6 homes on this tour
Tour six of the 254 homes arranged over 79 acres landscaped with hundreds of palms and citrus trees. Homes feature views of mountains, one of the 15 pools or the executive golf course. Designed in the late 60s by Los Angeles-based architect Charles Du Bois, who is famous for his distinctive homes in the Vista Las Palmas neighborhood, these spacious homes are condominiums but live like houses. Included in the tour is the private Canyon Estates Clubhouse, Du Bois’ largest commission in the area. In the Clubhouse you’ll find a display of architectural plans and historical information about the community.
My idea is that people want space around them. Room to move around. Where other builders would put four homes to a designated area, I’d build three.
