An Afternoon of Therapeutic Horticulture

Delight in the benefits of therapeutic horticulture activities as you immerse your senses while engaging in guided, hands-on activities that include exploring nature mandalas, creating your own intentional succulent garden container, and decorating and filling aromatherapy sachet bags. Come enjoy a relaxing and calm space to participate in garden-based activities in a positive, supportive atmosphere. 

Materials: This program takes place sitting in chairs, outdoors. Sun protection, water, and comfortable clothing (that you don’t mind getting dirty, you will be working with potting soil) are recommended.  

About the instructor: Karen Haney is a Registered Horticultural Therapist (HTR), UCCE Master Gardener and is certified in Permaculture Design. She oversees the Horticultural Therapy program at a non-public school in Los Angeles, and she developed and currently teaches the AHTA accredited Horticultural Therapy Certificate Program with UCLA Extension. Karen loves to share her passion about the therapeutic benefits of engaging with plants through positive and meaningful activities.

Location & Parking information: Please meet at the Center 15 minutes before the program start time. The best address to use as a reference is 37977 Bob Hope Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA 92270. The parking lot is located at the address provided above.
