Still Life in Pastel

Brief Description: Learn the basics of dry pastel and still life techniques with international artist Gianne de Genevraye. In this non-competitive outdoor class, we will explore the ideas of light and shadow and learn about negative space by doing exercises in dry pastel. We will discuss composition and color and do a contemporary finished drawing of a provided simple still life. This workshop occurs outside (sun protection and a reusable water bottle are recommended).     

Materials: All workshop art supplies are included in the class fee. 

Instructor: International painter Gianne de Genevraye paints public gardens in Europe and the United States. She is a contemporary nature painter, with exhibits in France, Italy, Sweden, and the United States. A California native, she splits her time between France and Laguna Beach, with art residencies at gardens around the world. Gianne’s focus is on painting in public gardens and exhibiting in public spaces with a focus on sustainability.
