Sunburst Palms Home Tour
$40 (30 min)
Enjoy the sunshine as you join us for a flashback tour of Sunburst Palms in the beautiful historic neighborhood of Deepwell in Palm Springs, previously open to Modernism Week attendees in 2021. Designed by Lawrence Lapham and built for Academy Award-winner Edward “Bud” Furer in 1956, this quintessentially midcentury Modern house features a sweeping tongue and groove flat roof that spans the entire width of the property. Once inside the home, you can walk through the spacious rooms, lined by glass walls facing out to a large outdoor entertaining space and a kidney-shaped pool with an original rock waterfall.
This vintage home celebrates extreme design angles typical of the era and interesting, organic shapes throughout, including an original, custom, built-in kidney-shaped terrazzo coffee table with a small fire feature that has been restored as the living room's centerpiece. Lovingly remodeled and customized by H3K Design, the home features four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, one of which is used as a perfect poolside media room. One of the most noteworthy attributes of the house is the eye-catching goldenrod yellow St. Charles kitchen, which remains fully intact and was installed by previous homeowners as part of an early 1970s renovation.
Modernism Week sponsors Brizo, California Closets, Dunn-Edwards Paints, Ferguson Bath, Kitchen and Lighting and Willis generously contributed to this project.
