Modernism Week Restoration Series and Cocktail Party at the “Elrod Escape” Residence
$250 (2 hrs)
You are invited to this very exclusive, intimate cocktail party where you will experience the luxury living of Palm Springs social sophisticates from the 1960s. Join us for a tour and cocktail reception at Arthur Elrod’s “Escape House” the former 1962 home of Arthur Elrod, A.S.I.D. This home is the second to be featured in the new Modernism Week Restoration Series, a series of home tours devoted to celebrating significant examples of Desert Modernist architecture and interior design that have been preserved, restored, and contain carefully curated furnishings and décor.
Organized by Modernism Week Board Members, Maureen Erbe and Gary Johns, this evening’s conversations will include the homeowners and their designers who are helping to restore and refresh the property, and Nelda Linsk, one of Arthur Elrod’s closest friends and Palm Springs icon.
Mr. Elrod was a superstar interior designer before the word was coined. His great style and taste helped define, what we love about Palm Springs today, its Style. Enjoy poolside cocktails and decadent hors d’oeuvres as you step back in time. The home’s meticulously preserved interiors and restored exterior features place you solidly in the midcentury period of Palm Springs. Every detail still reflects Arthur’s influence and design as he left it in 1969. It’s a time capsule from the midcentury and a feeling of nostalgia you won’t soon forget.
