Details

Preservation Mirage is proud to present its first foray into filmmaking, with a documentary short about the Maslon House by Richard Neutra. Built on the 12th fairway of Tamarisk Country Club in 1962, the legendary home was one of only three designed in the Coachella Valley by the prominent Modernist architect.

Razed in 2002, the demise of this architectural treasure sparked international outrage, inspired the preservation movement in Rancho Mirage, and led to the Historic Resources Survey that sought to protect the remaining inventory of the city’s midcentury homes.

The film explores the home commissioned by Luella and Samuel Maslon for themselves, their family, and their incredible collection of Modern art. Through archival photos, home movies, new footage, and first-hand accounts from visitors, the audience will feel immersed in the history of the house, its stellar location, and the legacy it left behind.

Featuring interviews with Adele Cygelman, Brad Dunning, David Glomb, Barbara Lamprecht, Lynn Mallotto, Hilary Maslon, Peter Moruzzi, Melissa Riche and Craig Traupane, Preservation Mirage Presents Richard Neutra’s Maslon House will take you back in time to experience this dazzling midcentury icon.

After the screening, join the filmmakers from Streeterville Productions for a Q&A session, including several interviewees from the film.
