Let’s raise a glass and celebrate John Lautner’s iconic 1947 desert hideaway! This is a rare opportunity to view “The Lautner Compound” at night while you enjoy craft cocktails sponsored by local craft distillery “Joshua Tree Distillery Co.” and enjoy light bites with owners and designers, Tracy Beckmann and Ryan Trowbridge. Learn about the history of this secluded wonder directly from the team that lovingly restored it. Be regaled with stories and secrets, and see the play of light cast on the intricate angles of this moody Modern masterpiece. It’ll be an evening you won’t forget!

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the evening is touring John Lautner’s 1947 residential fourplex, formerly known as The Desert Hot Springs Motel then reintroduced as Hotel Lautner in 2012, and now affectionately called “The Lautner.” The Lautner Compound is a collection of 4 boutique properties masterfully restored and designed: “The Lautner” an elite vacation rental property allowing architecture aficionados from around the world a chance to live the Lautner Lifestyle, “The Park” a 10,000 sq. ft. open-air event space with views of the San Jacinto Mountains, “The Ranch House” a 1957 California Bungalow which is an extension of their guest services for weddings and special events, and “The Clubhouse” newly acquired and available for weddings, special events and lodging.

John Lautner is the most famous protege of Frank Lloyd Wright, and “The Lautner” is reminiscent of Wright’s school of architecture, Taliesin West, in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he studied for 6 years. John Lautner was one of last century’s important contemporary American architects. His work was concerned with the relationship of the human being to space and of space to nature. Lautner is also known for the Bob Hope residence and the Arthur Elrod residence, both located in Palm Springs.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the John Lautner Foundation, striving to preserve the Lautner archive, educate the public on the architecture of Lautner, and provide support for the preservation, protection, and maintenance of all Lautner structures. Be a part of this important movement by supporting the foundation so that you too can play an integral role in preserving Lautner’s architectural legacy.
