Sunrise Lanai: Cocktail Party and Twilight Architectural Tour
$120 (2 hrs)
Join the Sunrise Lanai Community Association as they present a cocktail party and twilight architectural tour, hosted by the artist Shag!
Hidden off one of Palm Springs’s main thoroughfares lies the Sunrise Lanai compound, often described as “A Miracle in the Desert.” Built by the Alexander Construction Company between 1960 and 1961, Sunrise Lanai was designed by Charles E. Du Bois, A.I.A., an architect perhaps most famous locally for the “Swiss Miss” homes in Vista Las Palmas that blend Polynesian tiki style with dramatic two-story A-frame roofs reminiscent of Swiss chalets.
This event includes a poolside party hosted by Shag, featuring a local DJ, tiki-themed cocktails, and fabulous hors-d’oeuvres. Guests will be invited to explore the beautifully landscaped grounds as they sip from umbrella-topped drinks, enjoying incredible views of the condos, towering palms, and Mount San Jacinto. They can also groove to the DJ’s beats in the covered lanai—the inspiration for Sunrise Lanai’s name—which serves as an open-sided living area perfect for shade, sun protection, and socializing, embodying the fashionable trends of the 1950s and 1960s. And when guests need a break from the action, they can tour up to seven of Sunrise Lanai’s thoughtfully preserved and restored units! All guests must be 21 years of age or older.
