The Weird and Wonderful World of Industrial Musicals
$25 (1.5 hrs)
Diesel Dazzle… Got to Investigate Silicones…The Bathrooms Are Coming…?
Welcome to the hilarious and head-spinning alternate universe of industrial musical theater, presented by Letterman Show and The Simpsons writer Steve Young.
Steve, the star of Dava Whisenant’s award-winning documentary Bathtubs Over Broadway, discovered private sales meeting musicals while gathering obscure albums for the Letterman show’s "Dave's Record Collection" segment. As the leading authority on the secret world of industrial shows the public was never supposed to see, Steve screens surreal, ultra-rare 50s-to-70s in-house films from General Electric, Kellogg’s, American-Standard, Citgo, Purina, and more, with affectionately snarky commentary (and even a bit of live music). Don’t miss this unique cavalcade of motivational capitalist infotainment!
You’ll be amazed, you’ll be amused, you’ll be singing along–and you might even be inspired to get out there and sell, sell, sell!
“Steve Young is a show business triple threat. Quadruple threat? Who cares, no one is safe!” —Dave Letterman
