The Griffing and Goldberg Residences: PS ModCom Iconic Home Tour

Southridge is home to one of the most exclusive and historic estates in Palm Springs, making it the perfect location for an exceptional home tour experience. The two houses featured on this tour showcase diverse and interesting architectural styles, fitting for this enclave of Palm Springs' architectural treasures.

The Griffing Residence: This house was originally designed in the early 1960s by the local team of Patten & Wild and was bought by Thomas Griffing, one of the original investors in Southridge. It represents the California ranch style with a hip roof and concrete shingles. In 2014, award-winning architect Susan Secoy Jensen, AIA, acquired the house and reimagined it, returning it to its minimal design. Susan's changes included a new open kitchen with stunning views, a neutral color palette providing a soft backdrop for classic midcentury furniture, and simplified exterior landscaping with appropriate desert plantings.

The Goldberg Residence: This was initially designed in 1962 as a spec house by William F. Cody. It was purchased by Chicago industrialist and inventor Stanley Goldberg, who then rehired Cody along with designer Arthur Elrod to expand the floor plan, incorporating many distinctive and glamorous features that you will discover during the tour. In 2016, designer Michael Johnston and Broadway lyricist David Zippel purchased the house and Michael began an extensive restoration based on Cody’s original plans, which you will have the opportunity to discover during the tour. This house is considered a masterpiece of Cody's work representing the international style of glass and steel.
