Exclusive Fairway Tour of Tamarisk Country Club’s Architectural Legends, Presented by Preservation Mirage

Discover the architectural legends of Rancho Mirage on a ‘behind the scenes’ two-hour guided tour led by local nonprofit Preservation Mirage. Be whisked by a golf cart across the fairways of the Tamarisk Country Club golf course, designed by William Bell, a treasure trove of significant architecture, featuring some of the most important homes in the Coachella Valley.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity begins with a deep dive into the fascinating history of the historic Tamarisk Country Club, established in 1952. Entertainers like Frank Sinatra, Red Skelton, and the Marx Brothers owned homes here, while legends Ben Hogan, Ellsworth Vines, Johnny Revolta, and LPGA co-founder Shirley Spork served as golf professionals. One of the host clubs of the Bob Hope Desert Classic, Tamarisk was ‘unrestricted’ from the outset, allowing any race or creed to join—a rarity at the time.

The tour will showcase significant homes (exteriors only) designed by famed Modernist architects, including William F. Cody, Val Powelson, Donald Wexler & Richard Harrison, Buff & Hensman, C.H. Barlund, Stan Sackley, and Crombie Taylor. Unlike most country clubs, no two homes at Tamarisk are the same.

A percentage of funds raised will go towards Preservation Mirage, whose mission is to celebrate the architectural history of Rancho Mirage by promoting its protection and appreciation.

As a courtesy to other guests, please arrive up to 15 minutes before your designated start time, late arrivals will forfeit their tour.
Guests will park at Tamarisk Country Club, signage will guide you to designated parking spaces.

The tour includes exteriors only.
Children, pets, and smoking are prohibited.
Large purses and/or backpacks are discouraged.
Exterior photography is permitted for personal use.
Restrooms are available for tour use in the clubhouse or snack shop.
Paid members of Preservation Mirage will receive a complimentary gift.
