The Legacy of Mission 66 at Joshua Tree National Park
$25, $55 includes Park Pass. (1 hr)
Join us for a special program celebrating the legacy of modernism at Joshua Tree National Park. Hosted by the Joshua Tree National Park Association in partnership with the National Park Service and Joshua Tree Creative Laboratory, The Legacy of Mission 66: at Joshua Tree National Park offers a unique opportunity to delve into the significance of the Mission 66 initiative, its ties to the modern movement, and the manifestation of its ideals in the park’s Cottonwood District.
Enjoy a detailed tour of the original contact station’s architectural characteristics, learn about Mission 66 with a guided walk, engage in a Q&A with your guide and a knowledgeable park ranger, then explore the Cottonwood District on your own with fresh eyes. What you learn will change how you see every national park with a Mission 66 legacy.
Your guide will be Rebecca Lowry, whose understanding of architecture, design, and national parks drives Joshua Tree Creative Laboratory. JTLab has been involved in multiple projects concerning the preservation of NPS’s modern design legacy. Rebecca has been working alongside the park on projects for the Cottonwood District since 2016.
Do not miss out on this chance to appreciate a piece of design history! Whether you are an architecture enthusiast, a national park lover, or a fan of all things modern, this event promises to be both educational and memorable. Mark your calendars and join us for a journey through time at The Legacy of Mission 66: at Joshua Tree National Park.
