This is the event everyone is talking about, Cul de Sac “Swinging ‘66”. From the moment you enter this secluded circle in the iconic Canyon View Estates, you're transported back to the mid-1960s in an immersive time capsule experience.
There are six intact William Krisel-designed homes on tour, and you'll marvel at the architectural details that define the Palm Springs School of midcentury Modern architecture—the innovative double gable roofs with clerestory windows all around, the patterned concrete block, the elegant stone fronts, and the unique decor that each homeowner has adapted to their lifestyle. Plus there’s a guided behind-the-scenes tour of the pool and extensive garden areas, sensitively redesigned with drought-tolerant desert landscaping. A very special collection of rare and unusual toys from the era will be on prominent display in one of the homes.
In addition, a collection of classic vehicles curated by the authors of Glamour Road lines the carports and driveways (and one spinning on a central turntable), go-go platforms feature our very own Cul-de-Sac Dancers to shake things up, our DJs will be spinning period vinyl music, plus fashion models and some special surprises make this an event you won't forget.
Everyone leaves with a Cul-de-Sac “Swinging ‘66” souvenir booklet—filled with history, photos and vintage ads—and a smile on their face. There are 6 morning sessions, approximately one hour each. Come dressed and ready to pose, this is a social media catnip for vintage enthusiasts and modernism aficionados alike. As Palm Springs Life says, "It’s midcentury Modern eye candy at its finest.” Proceeds will be used to expand our transition to sustainable and architecturally sensitive drought-tolerant landscaping.
